“Okay, let's dive straight in. We're talking about something I think, well, a lot of you have probably felt that kind of hesitation, maybe even suspicion, when love is offered. It's like we instinctively brace ourselves, you know?
Wondering, okay, what's the real agenda here?
Yeah, and it makes sense when you look around. So often, what gets presented as love, feels a bit off, doesn't it?
Totally. Like, it's just a disguise for someone wanting control, or they have some hidden motive, and that leaves us, well, pretty fearful of the real thing.
Exactly. That fear is completely understandable, because what we often encounter isn't really pure love. It's tangled up with insecurity, with someone's need to feel dominant or validated.
Right. And that's exactly what we want to unpack in this deep dive, this insecurity around giving and receiving love.
We're using a framework called Joey's Theory, which I think offers a really interesting angle on this.
Yeah, it seems like a fresh way to look at why this fear exists and maybe, just maybe, how we can start moving beyond it.
