Waking up in the night and having insecure thoughts slip into your mind is common.
Here are some methods of regaining secure thinking.
Mantra with Breathing
Repeat the phrase “Letting go, let in god / universe.” slowly while practicing deep, slow breathing. This acts as a simple interruption to stop the spiraling insecure thoughts and replace them with a sense of release and openness.
2. Powerful Visualisation (Campfire Metaphor)
Picture your insecure thoughts as a campfire in different stages (e.g., just starting to catch light, roaring intensely, or smouldering). Then actively imagine yourself extinguishing it:
• Use a hose or bucket of water to douse the flames.
• Watch the embers and charcoal cool down, turning from glowing red to black and fully extinguished.
• See new life emerge: a baby tree sprouting from the cooled ashes, symbolising renewal, growth, and transformation after the insecurity is “put out.”
